Policy Bulletin
People with the courage to move for a better life help make our country and our communities vibrant and strong. But right now, the Trump Administration wants to seize even more money and control by terrorizing our immigrant neighbors. They’re spreading fear and sowing division based on where we were born so they can hand billionaires and corporations the wealth our work creates.
At the local level, leaders are fighting back – keeping immigrant families together, passing inclusive policies that treat people with dignity, and providing meaningful opportunities for people to participate equally in our society and become citizens in the country they chose to call home.
As a membership organization, we believe our work is most impactful when it is informed and guided by members. Bringing a diverse range of expertise and local experience, our Immigrant Justice Steering Committee advises and shapes our work in this area:

Since June 2025, the Trump Administration has deployed military and federal agents against our communities, inciting widespread fear and terrorizing our neighbors. This policy bulletin outlines some best practices to prepare local elected officials and communities in the event of a federal deployment.

Trump’s unprecedented mass deportation and immigration detention agenda is a direct attack on our immigrant communities. It’s also an attack on all of us and our freedoms; and we must speak out about it as such. This messaging guide is intended to provide you with some different frameworks / angles that echo a common message: We are all stronger when we fight – together – for a society where all working families have a roof over their heads, high-quality healthcare, and life-sustaining jobs.
