Local Progress

Do you want to build power with your community, share bold ideas and policy among a network for local leaders, and fight to reshape what is possible in our localities all across the country? Then you’ve come to the right place!

By becoming a member of Local Progress, you are joining a network of more than 1300 local elected officials advancing a racial and economic justice agenda through all levels of local government. Our network includes mayors, district attorneys, county commissioners, city councilmembers, and school board members — representing major cities, growing suburbs, and rural communities.

As an LP member, you can look forward to policy assistance, leadership development, and programming that supports your growth as an elected official, as well as opportunities to learn, engage, and build with some of the fiercest leaders in the progressive movement.

“In the absence of federal action on many issues, [Local Progress is] trying to make local government into something that doesn’t just pick up the trash – but solves some of society’s biggest problems as well.”

“I attended my first Local Progress meeting in the summer of 2021. Since then and with their support, we’ve accomplished a lot – COVID-19 safe schools reopening, historic staff pay raises and $16 minimum wage, and mental health supports for students.”

– Juan Miguel Arredondo,
San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Vice President
