Does your city or county want to build power with your community, share bold ideas and policy among a network for local leaders, and fight to reshape what is possible in our localities all across the country? Then you’ve come to the right place!

Local Progress is a network of more than 1,500 local elected officials advancing a racial and economic justice agenda through all levels of local government. Members can be both individual elected officials and municipal governments.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

The Local Progress network provides local governments with a platform to collaborate, share best practices, access resources, and enhance their capacity to serve their communities effectively and efficiently. Our staff work closely with municipal and jurisdiction members to maximize their access to these resources and develop customized plans that provide training and briefings on policy resources specific to each member jurisdiction. Members get access to personalized support and tailored resources, timely communication about the latest policy issues and legislative developments, and advocacy support that helps local officials advance policies that address your unique community needs.

By becoming a municipal member of Local Progress, members of your governmental body will have access to:

  • A robust network for collaboration: We connect members with a robust and diverse network of local government officials and staff, fostering valuable connections and opportunities for collaboration. LP facilitates the sharing of ideas, experiences, and lessons learned with peers across the country.
  • Policy guidance and leadership development: Our members gain exclusive access to comprehensive policy guidance research, and analysis on a wide range of issues relevant to local governments. This will include toolkits and reports to help members better understand and address challenges in their communities. Members will also have access to training opportunities and professional development resources to enhance their skills and knowledge. This will include webinars, workshops, and online courses on topics such as leadership, communication, and policy development.
  • Advocacy support and updates on emerging trends and policies: Members will have the opportunity to participate in advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national levels to advance policies that benefit their communities. This will include access to policy briefings, updates on key legislative issues, and support for communicating with elected officials and policymakers. Members also receive regular updates on emerging trends and policies in their field, keeping them well-informed and up-to-date.
  • Events and webinars: Members have the chance to attend and actively participate in a variety of events and webinars, ensuring continuous learning, networking, and the exchange of best practices.

“In the absence of federal action on many issues, [Local Progress is] trying to make local government into something that doesn’t just pick up the trash – but solves some of society’s biggest problems as well.”

“I attended my first Local Progress meeting in the summer of 2021. Since then and with their support, we’ve accomplished a lot – COVID-19 safe schools reopening, historic staff pay raises and $16 minimum wage, and mental health supports for students.”
