Take Action on Janus v. AFSCME

The Supreme Court has just ruled on Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. Here are two ways you can take action as a local elected official:

  1. Take the Union Challenge. To make it clear that regardless of the verdict, we are going to fight for the good union jobs needed by working people and their communities, people all over the country are speaking up in support of working people. These images are being shared on the site americaneedsunions.org.
Here’s how you can participate in the Union Challenge:
Step 1 – Make your own sign with the word UNION
Step 2 – Get your photo taken holding the sign, Norma Rae-style
Step 3 – Post the photo to social media using the hashtag #Union with a message of why you support unions and union members. Make sure to tag @LocalProgress
  2. Introduce a resolution supporting working people in the face of this attack on the freedom to organize in strong unions. Here is our template resolution that can be modified. Already more than 15 jurisdictions across the country – from San Francisco to El Paso County to Nashville to Philadelphia have passed resolutions affirming their support for the working people at the heart of our communities.
