School District Safe Zones Policies (webinar)

February 23 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The National Education Association (NEA), Local Progress and the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) are continuing to advance our joint school board cohort project!   Now, more than ever, local communities and local leaders are critical in driving the necessary changes to achieve the schools all of our students deserve!

Join us on Thursday, February 23 at 3:00 Eastern Time for a special invitation only webinar to hear how local school districts are standing up for immigrant students in a time of great fear and uncertainty. Register here.

Find out what makes a good policy, and why Safe Zones policies are important right now. We’ll hear from one school board member, Lacey Merica, on how a Nebraska school board passed a Safe Zones policy. In addition to Emma Leheny from NEA’s Office of General  Counsel,  we will be joined by Shiu-Ming Cheer from the National Immigration Law Center (NILC).
